YMCA Swim Lessons

Learning to swim not only saves lives, it builds self-confidence and gives you or your child a healthy activity to enjoy the rest of your lives. The YMCA offer two swimming options for everyone in your family.
 
Group Swim Lessons - Learn safety around water and drowning prevention strategies, in addition to progressing through swim lesson levels. Registration is open for classes that begin the week of June 5.
 
Face Up First Swim Lessons - This low instructor-to-student ratio class teaches swim safety and progresses through swim lesson levels. The next session of Face Up First lessons start the week of June 5.
 
Lessons are available mornings or evenings, and from age 6 months through adults. See more information on our website, www.giymca.org/programs/swimming. Register on our app (Grand Island YMCA), online, or at either Y location.

2nd Annual Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic

The Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic will include both high school and collegiate volleyball matches. Hastings College will host a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) Volleyball Tournament. Participating teams include Hastings College, Columbia College (Columbia, MO), College of Coastal Georgia (Brunswick, GA) and Oklahoma City University (Oklahoma City, OK). Two courts will be set in the Heartland Events Center, one for high school matches and one for collegiate matches.
High school matches will be Nebraska High School Hall of Fame Jamboree Games and will feature teams from each class of school from across Nebraska. Proceeds will go to the Nebraska Sports Hall of Fame.

Brad Paisley in Concert

Country singer Brad Paisley will perform outdoors at the Nebraska State Fair.

Paisley will be joined by country artists Dustin Lynch, Chase Bryant and Lindsay Ell.
Tickets will be available starting at 10:00 am at the Heartland Events Center box office or at Etix.com. Ticket prices are $55 for general admission and $90 for the pit.
"Brad Paisley is an entertainer through and through and puts on a great show," said Chelsey Jungck, the fair's events and entertainment director. "He's written 20 of his 23 No. 1 singles, starting with his 1999 hit 'He Didn't Have to Be', as well as his most recent chart-topper, 'Perfect Storm,' from his 2014 album, 'Moonshine in the Trunk.'"
Lynch is an American Country Awards, CMT Music Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards-nominated artist with four singles reaching No.1 on Billboard's U.S. Country Airplay charts. They include, "Where It's At (Yep Yep)," "Hell of a Night," "Mind Reader" and "Seein' Red."
Orange Grove, Texas-native Bryant's hits include "Little Bit of You," "Take It on Back" and, most recently, "Room to Breathe." Canadian country artist Ell's singles include, "By the Way," "Shut Me Up" and "Trippin' on Us."

North Loup Popcorn Days Fair

Three days of all the free popcorn you can eat. All of our events are free.
25th: kids day, popcorn art show, team penning and sorting, street music, turtle races and polka dance.
26th: NLPD Dash, Co-ed Sand Volleyball, Men's Slow Pitch tourney, horseshoe contests, Miniature Bull Riding, vehicle scavenger hunt, pedal tractor pull, Lions Club talent show, Nashville's Tennessee River Boys show, Ranch Rodeo, children's parade, queen crowning, & evening program Nashville's Cowboy Joe Babcock & the Tennessee River Boys.
27th: community church service, craft show and sale, antique tractor display, car show, parade of floats "Hillbilly Hoe Down", stage show-Pat Boilesen, raffle drawing. All three days Richard's Amusement carnival on the midway, crafts, flowers, vegetables,& school exhibits.

Oregon Trail Rodeo

Yee haw! It’s rodeo time! Saddle your horse and head to town! The 26th annual Oregon Trail Rodeo rides into Hastings August 25-27. Old West meets young cowboys, as they match up with the toughest broncs and bulls and gun for the prize money! Witness bronc riding, roping, barrel racing, and the grand finale, bull riding!

Dance following the rodeo on August 26. Eat at the free barbecue prior to the Sunday, August 27 rodeo, starting at 3 pm. The rodeo is held nightly at 7 pm on August 25 and 26 and at 5 pm on August 27.
Advance tickets are available at the Adams County Fairgrounds (402.462.3247) and at the gate.
Free parking; food vendors on site.

Saturday, August 26 is Tough Enough to Wear Pink night at the rodeo. Fans and cowboys alike are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. For every ticket purchased for the Saturday night rodeo, $1 will be given to the Morrison Cancer Center at Mary Lanning Hospital. Two sponsors will match the rodeo’s contribution: Dr. Jerry Seiler, P.C., and the Mammography Center.

Pentatonix concert at Nebraska State Fair

Pentatonix, the Grammy Award-winning a cappella group from Arlington, TX, will perform at the Nebraska State Fair. The concert will be outdoors. This is the first big announcement for the outdoor concert series at the State Fair.

 

In October 2016, Pentatonix released their third holiday album, "A Pentatonix Christmas," which has been certified platinum, spending two consecutive weeks atop Billboard's Top 200 Chart as well as reaching #1 on iTunes and Amazon. The album includes a cover of the Leonard Cohen classic "Hallelujah," which reached No. 2 on the iTunes singles chart, generating 20 million video views in its first week and has since been certified gold.

 

Opening for Pentatonix will be Us the Duo.Check them out online to hear them sing. No increase in the ticket price.
